Portfolio Management App Design Idea💡

2025

With experience at American Express, Google, and Starling Bank, I see finance as more than numbers—it shapes economies and improves lives. Recently, I collaborated with a New York-based portfolio management company to design a high-fidelity app prototype, ensuring an intuitive and accessible experience for all users.

Project Details

As a keen individual who had the pleasure working with American Express, Google, Starling Bank. It is no secret that I love the financial world- I realise how banking is not just about numbers but it plays a vital role in shaping the world, improving lives and the global economy.

My passion, experience and eagerness to collaborate has brought an exciting opportunity to work with a portfolio management company based in the New York, USA - My Visual Design skills has been recognised to be truly inclusive and more importantly - meet the users needs.

I have developed a High Fidelity Prototype that showcases the Homepage of the Portfolio Management App.

After Conducting UX Research with the the users and the business - I have managed to deliver the Design that meets business needs and user needs.

The Design Rationale

For this design, I opted for a more traditional layout rather than a fintech-style one, ensuring that the app remains accessible to a broad audience. Instead of using a black background, which can feel masculine and heavy, I chose a gradient of light blue and dark blue. Blue is associated with happiness and neutrality, making the app feel welcoming and inclusive for all users, regardless of gender.

In terms of typography, I emphasized key action buttons and financial figures by making them bold, ensuring that essential information stands out at a glance. This enhances usability by directing users’ attention to the most relevant details quickly and effectively.

I also prioritized simplicity in the layout to make navigation intuitive. A clutter-free interface ensures that users can accomplish tasks with ease, avoiding unnecessary complexity. To further enhance accessibility, I included a "?" button that provides assistance for users who may need additional support. This fosters a more inclusive and user-friendly experience, making sure everyone feels comfortable using the app.

Overall, my design choices balance functionality, clarity, and inclusivity, creating a product that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly usable as its interactive.

On the other hand, I am in the process of iterating this design according to User and Business needs. Otherwise, I am open to feedback and hearing your thoughts!
